A Journey Alone
You are so distant from me now
But I remember the love we once shared
My life has unraveled and I stumble unconfident
Waves of anxiety and depression
Wash up upon my empty shores.
You are an unusual person in many ways
Most of this is good, and refreshing, and interesting
But you leave much unsaid, and our friendship is
inconsistent.
Leaving me guessing all the time.
Was listening not to Ravel but to Roy Harris this evening
Symphony No. 4, a "Folk Song Symphony"
The section that brought tears to my eyes was Western
Cowboy.
I'm no cowboy and you're no cowgirl
But we both live here, don't we?
Oh bury me not on the lone prairie
My dear Jenny.
A difficult journey I must now make alone.
